Napoleon Hill on the science of success philosophy

Napoleon Hill (1883-1970) talks about the wisdom the billionaire Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) shared with him some hundred years ago.

Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve, regardless of how many time you failed in the past or how lofty your aims and hopes may be.

Take the power of your own mind and direct it to whatever end you desire. Your mind is the only thing you have complete power over. All success begins with the definiteness of purpose. Have a clear picture in your mind of what you want in life.

The riches you may enjoy if you take possession of your own mind and direct it to ends of your own choice:
1 sound health
2 peace of mind
3 a labor of love of your own choice
4 freedom from fear and worry
5 a positive mental attitude
6 material riches of your own choice and quantity

The penalties you must pay if you neglect to take possession and direct it:
1 ill health
2 fear and worry
3 indecision and doubt
4 frustration and discouragement throughout life
5 poverty
6 anger, greed, jealousy, hatred and superstition

Buy a pocket size notebook.
Write on page 1 your major desire, your idea of success
Write on page 2 what do you want to give in return
Memorize your two statements and repeat them at least 12 times a day.

Always end with the following prayer: "I ask not for divine providence, for more riches, but more wisdom with which to accept and use wisely the riches I received at birth in the form of the power to control and direct my mind to whatever ends I desire."
